Southampton Woods

A vacation retreat for a young Manhattan family of four, with a guest house to welcome extended family from Brazil. The project began with bringing the existing home down to a clean slate: refinished floors, fresh paint, simplified plaster mantles, new countertops, and an updated kitchen. The master bathroom and powder room were redone, and an enclosed office off the master bedroom was opened up into a serene sitting area. Where the home was once dark and heavy with overscale furniture, the goal was to invite in light and a feeling of calm, resulting in an airy, understated escape from city life.
