Scarsdale
Scarsdale, NY
A full transformation of an outdated property into a modern, open home for a young family leaving the Upper East Side. Known for her casual Hamptons aesthetic, Maureen McDermott brought a more sophisticated lens to this project, weaving in influences from Los Angeles and traditional Southern style to suit the Scarsdale surroundings. The most luxurious touches live in the permanent details: custom lighting, stone, and millwork. The first floor was reimagined as an open, flowing plan anchored by a new curved staircase with a sinuous metal railing. The kitchen was rebuilt from scratch, and the master suite was reconfigured with his and hers walk-in closets, a generous bathroom, and a dedicated office. Beautiful enough to impress, livable enough that nothing feels too precious for everyday family life.
